The Do-Good Candle Kit
Cancer is the leading cause of death globally, but only a fraction of people who have cancer are undergoing treatment. The reasons for this are numerous, but it all comes down to one thing: access to affordable care.
World Cancer Day 2022, an annual event organized by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), marks the first year of a new three-year campaign focused on the issue of equity. The campaign's theme, "Close the Care Gap," recognizes the power of knowledge. It promotes awareness about cancer care inequity and discusses the hurdles that many people have in accessing resources and obtaining the care they require – and how these barriers can diminish a person's chance of surviving cancer.
We know that each of us can make a difference, big or small and that together, we can make real progress in reducing the global impact of cancer.
On World Cancer Day, Village Craft Candle is partnering with the Nanny Angel Network (NAN), the only charitable organization in Canada that provides free in-home and virtual childcare support to moms with cancer and their children. NAN’s mission is to help lessen the impact of cancer on families. It aims to help “Close the Care Gap” by providing volunteer driven childcare support that allows moms with cancer to focus on their cancer journey, knowing their children are in safe caring hands. NAN’s specialized childcare support programs help children navigate their mom’s cancer by giving them the tools to better understand this life change and build lifelong emotional resiliency. With NAN supporting families living with cancer it’s never been more critical to be aware of the gaps in cancer care and how we can come together to provide support to organizations who are leading the charge.
Village Craft & Candle is proud to announce that it will be supporting the Nanny Angel Network by donating 10% of the proceeds for every Candle Making Kit purchased from February 4, 2022 until the end of the month. The funds raised will help NAN support more families living with cancer by providing in-home and virtual childcare support programs to moms with cancer and their children all stages of their journey.
